MoodWeb: ML Emotion Detection
This talk explores using smartphone accelerometer data and machine learning to detect users' emotions through phone grip, enhancing social and dating interactions.
MoodWeb’s slogan is ‘see who likes you’. Originally an app against loneliness, MoodWeb now pivoted into the online dating industry.
Log in and let the app pick up on how you are currently feeling - based on the way you hold your phone while typing (the exciting ML part). Get a corresponding colour (or gradient) bubble assigned to you.
Filter based on radius (or location aka San Francisco or Berlin) who else is currently online and what they are currently feeling and send them anonymous chat requests for 15 minutes. Or join group chats with prompts and answer in realtime with strangers who are currently going through the same emotion as you are.
Add your friends and family to see how they felt the last time they logged in and reach out to them - text messages get colour bubbles that indicate how you were feeling when you typed your message - based on the way you hold your phone while typing, not on the contents of your message.
